BAYVILLE: Numerous police officers responded to Dolphin Circle near Clara B. Worth Elementary School this morning. Officers were seen blocking off the entrance to the school and more officers responded. Today is the first day of school for Berkeley Township school district. Parents are telling JCEN that school buses are being diverted to another school. We believe the incident is not School related but neighborhood related.
Update: We have unconfirmed reports this was possibly a swatting incident. We will update as we get additional information.
Update:
At approximately 7:15am The Berkeley Township Police responded to a call on Dolphin Circle , a neighborhood adjacent to Clara B Worth School. The incident involved the possibility of firearms and that someone was injured.
Although the threat was not directed at the school, as a precaution a perimeter was set up and the students were re-routed to BTES until the situation was resolved. The Berkeley Township School District coordinated with and assisted us.
At this time, the original incident was unfounded and no victim or firearm were located.
The neighborhood and the school were cleared and students were allowed to return.
This incident is currently under investigation.
An additional police presence will be seen at the schools.
