TOMS RIVER: We received the following message from the man’s son.
My father was found unresponsive in his driveway due to diabetes and was taken by ambulance to Community Medical Center last night, this morning he was admitted to the cardiac unit. He had a satchel around his arm which he had $2400, which was all his savings, and his medication which was with him when he was found in the driveway . His nurse removed it from his persons, against his verbal objections but he was unable to stop her from being delirious. She placed it on his rolling food tray behind his bed.
He had a younger, male roommate, fair skin with dark hair, also cardiac patient. He got up, walked near my delirious fathers bag behind my fathers bed and disappeared into the A and B patient cabinets and then went into the bathroom. He then requested to AMA and was discharged. A half hour later (full 45+ minutes after nurse removing satchel from his arm) the nurse went to log the medication and my father noticed the money was missing and security began looking for this patient and where they left from.
I saw dilaudid for pain and antibiotic for infection on the room whiteboard thinking it was my fathers, it was the discharged patient.
So this person, who had cardiac symptoms, was receiving dilaudid for pain, and needed antibiotics for an infection, discharged after stealing $2400 of an incapacitated senior citizens savings, they must have felt better after stealing the money?
People be very careful, these people are your neighbors, they are yours or your parents or even your children’s roommates in the hospital and they don’t care about taking from those who can’t defend themselves.
I pray this young man finds the ability to take better care of others and himself.
If anyone feels they possibly have information regarding the theft, please direct message me.
