BERKELEY/LACEY: On October 23rd 2022 at 12:11pm the Berkeley Township Police responded to the Quick Check, 769 Atlantic City Blvd, for a check the well being called in by a concerned citizen. Police were advised that a male came to the gas pumps and appeared to be under the influence. The driver was described as “nodding off” in the vehicle.

Upon police arrival they approach the vehicle to make contact with the driver. The driver, identified as Kyle Comerford 21 of Lacey, would not roll the window down and refused to speak with officers.

While this was occurring, Ptl. Hester witnessed Mr. Comerford concealing an unknown object into the area between the front seat and center console. Ptl. Hester then ordered the driver out of the vehicle, to which he refused.

After several attempts to get him out of the vehicle, Mr. Comerford put the truck in reverse and drove into an unoccupied patrol vehicle causing damage. Mr. Comerford then put the vehicle in drive and drove over the curb and grass area onto Central Parkway. Comerford then made a right onto Rt. 9 and headed south toward Lacey Twp. The Lacey Township Police Department was notified and shortly after located the vehicle on Renee Ct.

At this point Mr. Comerford fled on foot and was soon located. Mr. Comerford was found with a bookbag with various amounts of narcotics. Lacey Police placed Mr. Comerford under arrest with their own charges and Comerford was transferred to Berkeley Police custody.

Comerford was charged with Eluding, Obstructing the administration of law, possession of CDS, Possession of CDS with the intent to distribute. This included 7 separate charges for possession of scheduled prescription drugs and possession of Cocaine.
Comerford is currently lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
