NEPTUNE: Last night Neptune Police Department was dispatched to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for a psych patient that climbed into the ceiling. The juvenile patients clothes were found in the room, and the patient was missing. It was determined by hospital staff that the patient climbed into the ceiling. The police were able to find the juvenile because he was singing while he was hiding. The police followed his voice, and safely brought him back to the room.
Jersey Shore University Medical Center nurses recently took a survey where the majority said they wouldn’t feel safe as a patient in the hospital. The nurses have too many patients, and it’s not a safe environment for them. A nurse who messaged us stated that “The patient who escaped could have been seriously injured. This could have all been prevented if we had safer patient ratios per nurse. It’s extremely overwhelming.”
