TOMS RIVER: At 90 years young Mr. Joe still trains for marathons. Every time Mr. Joe walks he carries an American flag in honor of our veterans. Mr. Joe who is a Korean War veteran has walked over 15 states with the flag. He started walking with the flag in 2003 after an American journalist was beheaded in Afghanistan. ”I was really mad. I was too old to go back in the service so I said it’s time to walk with my flag.” Mr. Joe was in the Air Force and worked as a radio operator on B-29 Bombers, and an 85 foot long Crasher.
Joe recently finished six rounds of chemotherapy after finding out he had bladder, and prostate cancer. But, Joe kicked cancers ass and is now training to walk with his flag in the Seaside Heights Semper Five 5K that benefits the Marine Corps.
“I love this country. I love Americans. I will always stand up for this country. We live in the greatest country in the world. I’ve traveled the world and have seen the way others live. We are very fortunate.”
If you see Joe walking the streets in Toms River make sure you beep and say hello!
“The amount of beeps isn’t the same as it used to be. I used to get so many people beeping their horns. It’s not the same anymore. I would love to see more people beep and wave!”
Thank you for your service Mr. Joe! You are an incredible American and patriot. The country needs more people like you.
Joe is on Facebook and is amazed by the support. How many shares can we get for this American veteran, patriot, and hero!?
