TOMS RIVER: Police are currently at Intermediate East investigating a potential swatting incident/threat. Out of an abundance of caution, the area is being thoroughly checked prior to students entering the building. Police are asking parents not to respond to the school, updates will be coming shortly.

Update: A letter to parents reads as follows. “As a follow-up to our previous message, the school day is now proceeding as scheduled at Intermediate East. Our partners at Toms River Police Department have provided clearance for students and staff to return to their classrooms, and have confirmed that the school is safe.

We thank our friends at TRPD for their diligence in ensuring everyone’s safety, and we thank our staff and parents for their patience and understanding as we worked collaboratively to resolve this matter.”
