CLOFTON: On Sunday afternoon, at approximately 3PM, officers observed a heavily tinted, 2017 Mercedes, E300, black in color, displaying indications of possible bullet holes in the windshield. Officers stopped the vehicle on Allwood Road near Clifton Avenue. While the officers were speaking with the driver and front seat passenger, the driver sped off – almost striking two officers.

A motor vehicle pursuit then began through the streets of Clifton, Bloomfield, and ultimately into Glen Ridge, where the suspect driver struck a third party motorist and rolled several times – finally coming to rest on the front lawn of a Glen Ridge residence. The driver was able to flee the vehicle on foot, while officers were able to apprehend the passenger, a 48 year old male out of the Bronx. The identity of the driver is still unknown, but is under investigation.
