KEYPORT: This Morning at approximately 6am the Keyport Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Browns Point Marina for a report of a boat on fire. Chief 69 arrived and found 1 vessel well involved with exposure to the dock as well as other vessels. Chief 69 would transmit a box alarm bringing in additional units to help extinguish the fire. Squad 76 arrived and stretched approximately 750 ft to the fire and would go to work extinguishing the blaze and protecting surrounding vessels. Chief 69 would also request Perth Amboy Fire Department for their Marine Unit to assist in fighting the fire. We would like to thank Union Beach Fire Co. #1 Holmdel Fire & Rescue Company #2 Cliffwood Volunteer Fire Company #1 Station 63-2 and Washington Engine Co. for their help establishing a water supply and providing Man power. We would also like to thank North Centerville Vol. Fire Co. No. 1 and Morganville Fire Department for their assistance with covering the borough while units were operating at the fire. The fire is currently under investigation by the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s office.
