PHILLIPSBURG; A Philipsburg police officer was shot responding to a domestic violence incident this afternoon. At around 1:15 this afternoon officers from Easton, and Philipsburg responded to Hanover Street for a woman who was shot.
When officers pulled up to the scene they were met with gunfire before stepping out of the patrol vehicle. The suspect fired off numerous shots before turning the gun on himself.
Police exchanged gunfire and found the female victim shot in the torso on the sidewalk. The suspect who died on scene died from what appeared to be a self inflicted gunshot. It’s unclear if the suspect was hit by police.
The police officer, and the female victim were airlifted to Lehigh Valley Medical Center. The police officer appears to be in high spirits and does not have life threatening injuries. The female victims condition is unknown.
