LACEY: 15 students are not allowed to attend their senior prom, and we’re suspended for 5 days after they performed a senior prank. The seniors went into the school and moved the cafeteria tables into the hallway. In a Facebook post a family member writes the following.

“My niece and about 15 other seniors from Lacey were suspended for 5 days due to a senior prank they pulled. Ya know that good ole senior prank that has been happening for decades now 🤦🏼‍♀️ They didn’t vandalize anything, no one was hurt yet they suspended them for 5 days and NO PROM! Prom is Wednesday and they can come back to school on Thursday 😩 Long story short they went into the school after hours (back door was unlock so they didn’t break in- that to me seems like an issue) and went into the cafeteria and moved the tables into the hallway. Pretty funny if you ask me and seems pretty harmless. I get rules are rules but it was a senior prank so let’s not go ham on these kids. Especially since a mill pond student was just attacked by multiple students and none of them were suspended for their acts of VIOLENCE!! Yet your going to take away prom from these kids! My niece has never even been in trouble before. She’s a great kid who’s mother has spent an easy 1k on prom already and has waited for this moment her entire life 😩 I’m all for settling an example so I called with a proposition! Give these kids back prom and make them do community service another time! They would of never done this had they known this would be the consequence and again no one was hurt and nothing was damaged so why punish them and ultimately the parents too? Thoughts on this? I mean when you compare both situations with the mill pond kid vs. a group of seniors doing a prank I think it’s completely unfair and a slap in the face to the mother who had to deal with no consequences to the kids who beat her kid up at school vs. a prank where they get 5 day suspension and no prom 🤦🏼‍♀️”

We have reached out to Lacey High School for a statement and haven’t heard back.
