SOUTH RIVER: Firefighters responded to a 5+ alarm fire at an abandoned warehouse last night. Around 10:30 police received a call that the warehouse was on fire on Herman Street. Firefighters quickly responded and saw the fire spreading to nearby homes. Firefighters were able to draft water from the nearby river to help get the fire under control. Some nearby residents told JCEN that they evacuated because trees on their property were on fire. No injuries were reported. A cause of the fire is under investigation.
