TOMS RIVER: Nunerous fire departments from Toms River, Lacey, Brick, and surrounding areas are responding to the Fairways at Bey Lea for a building housing numerous apartments on fire. Station 30, 29, 25, 28 for RIT, 27, Brick Rehab Unit and surrounding towns are on scene. One victim is trapped inside the fire. Firefighters are being told to evacuate the building. The fire has been upgraded to a 3rd alarm.

Toms River Police posted the following update.

“At approximately 1:30 PM, police, EMS, and fire units were dispatched to Inverness Drive for an active structure fire. All residents have been evacuated. All Toms River fire companies, along with fire companies from Forked River, Bayville, and Lakewood are currently on scene battling the blaze.

Drivers, please avoid the are if possible due to heavy smoke conditions and emergency vehicles.”
