POINT PLEASANT BEACH: The Coast Guard, and fire departments from Point Beach, Point Boro, Brick, Manasquan, and surrounding towns are searching for a 23 year old male that went missing when their boat capsized. The family was coming back into the inlet when their boat was hit by a wave and capsized next to the jetty. Bystanders saw coolers, life jackets, and then people floating in the inlet. One witness stated the two victims that came over the jetty were seconds away from drowning. Bystanders, brought the victims towels as the man was gasping saying “my son!” 2-4 victims were rescued from bystanders on the inlet. The son is believed to have been wedged between the boat, and went down with the boat. Divers were originally dispatched , but brought back to shore due to the 10 foot waves breaking. The Coast Guard, and fire departments will be searching for the victim throughout the night. It is believed at this point that the victim is deceased. We will update as we get additional information.

Update: We are being told that a body has been recovered on the North jetty. We will update when we can confirm this.

Update: The Coast Guard found belongings to the victims of the crash, and a life jacket. The rumors of being a body are not true. The search has been called off for the night and will resume in the morning.
