LAKEWOOD: Leisure Park is home to a nursing home, assisted living, and independent senior living facility. Earlier today firefighters were dispatched to a two alarm structure fire on the property. When firefighters arrived they were met with smoke conditions on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th floors. A dryer caught on fire in one of the apartments creating a massive smoke condition. Firefighters conducted a primary search on the 6th floor. A few residents were complaining of smoke related illness, and were brought down for observation. According to witnesses they were transported to the hospital. It’s unknown when the residents will be allowed back in their rooms, or if they were transported to other facilities. We will update as we get additional information.
