NASHVILLE: An 18 year old girl from Belmar died this morning after being shot from a stray bullet in Nashville. Jillian Ludwig was found around 3:30 pm Tuesday at Edgehill Community Memorial Gardens Park. Approximately one hour earlier she was shot in the head. Jillian graduated from Wall Township High School last year, and was attending Belmont University.

Belmont University President Greg Jones released a statement Thursday morning when he learned the news of her passing.

“This is a lot for us all to process. We grapple now with grief, anger, anxiety and a strong sense of fear in the face of senseless violence,” he said.

Police have arrested 29 year old Shaquille Taylor, 29, and charged him with aggravated assault and evidence tampering. Police will now upgrade his charges since she passed away.
