MANCHESTER: On Monday, December 25, 2023, at approximately 1:50 pm, members of the Manchester Township Police responded to the area of State Highway 70 mile marker 36.5, for the report of a two-car motor vehicle crash in the roadway.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed a red 2009 Pontiac G8 facing west on State Highway 70 with extensive front-end damage. Additionally, officers observed a grey 2011 Subaru Outback facing south on State Highway 70 with extensive front driver side damage. The investigation revealed that both vehicles were traveling west on State Highway 70. The Subaru pulled to the side of the road before conducting a U-turn in order to turn around and travel east on State Highway 70. While the Subaru conducted the U-turn, the Pontiac attempted to conduct an evasive maneuver to avoid the crash but was unsuccessful. The Pontiac struck the Subaru on the front driver side of the vehicle. The sole occupant and the driver of the Subaru was identified as Zachary Wilson, 23, of Marlton, NJ. Mr. Wilson sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment where he is listed in stable condition. The sole occupant and the driver of the Pontiac G8 was identified as Troy Weal, 47, of Browns Mills, NJ. Mr. Weal sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment where he is also listed in stable condition.
Assisting at the scene were Emergency Medical Technicians and Firefighters from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, Paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and Accurate Towing. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing, but at this point, an improper turn appears to be the primary contributing factor. This crash is being investigated by Ptl. Brendan Brush of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
