TOMS RIVER: An elderly man approximately 80 years old is dead after a self inflicted gun shot in the parking lot of Toms River Police Department. A medevac was called to the scene as officers attempted CPR. The medevac was canceled, and the man was pronounced dead at the hospital. Firefighters were on scene hosing down the parking lot after the victim was removed. An investigation is ongoing.

Police released the following statement:

Approximately 3:00 PM this afternoon, officers discovered a male with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the parking lot of police headquarters on Oak Avenue. Officers immediately rendered aid, and he was transported to Community Medical Center by Silverton First Aid where he was pronounced. The investigation is on-going at this time.

  2. Maybe the police should take this as a sign… stop making peoples lives harder when they are already having a hard enough time. Stop requiring so much of people who have nothing to give anymore and maybe this country would see less people resorting to taking their own lives.
