BERKELEY: State Police were in pursuit of a vehicle that ended in a crash a few moments ago. The pursuit started on the Garden State Parkway around mile marker 80. The driver hit numerous vehicles on the parkway, and even hit the guardrail. The vehicle is registered to a Hispanic male out of Howell Township. After troopers terminated the pursuit the vehicle winded up crashing on Route 9 and Hickory in Berkeley Township. State police are on their way to the scene of the crash. The driver of the vehicle got out and ran on foot. The scene is very active at this time. Route 9 is closed in both directions.

One witness states “He came flying up the middle of rt 9 between the lanes. He crashed two cars in front of me. A wheelbarrow came flying out of his truck and hit the car in front of me.”

UPDATE: About two miles down the road in front of Big Dogs Cafe on Route 9 a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle. The pedestrian died on location. The incidents are not related. We are also being told the suspect in the first incident was arrested from locals who saw what happened. The locals apparently chased down the man.
