SHIP BOTTOM: Firefighters are responding to The Arlington for a second alarm fire. Firefighters were dispatched for a small fire on the outside of the building about a hour ago. Some units cleared the scene and were redispatched. Now it’s much bigger fire up to second alarm. Heavy smoke reported. We will update as we get additional information. 

Ship Bottom Fire Department released the following statement:

This afternoon at 14:23 hours we were dispatched with the first alarm for a reported Commercial Building Fire at 13th Street and Long Beach Boulevard in the Boro. Companies on scene located a mulch fire that extended into the crawl space, Due to no access into the crawl space companies opened up from the interior and extinguished the fire. The fire subsequently went to a Second Alarm for manpower and additional resources. Companies operated on location for approximately 2 hours under the Command of Deputy 4610, The fire scene was turned over to the Ocean County Fire Marshals Office.
