Suspected Drunk Driver Crashes into Police Car Injuring Officer

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP: On August, 28 at 03:06 A.M. Jefferson Township Police Officer Tyler LaMantia, was sitting in his marked patrol vehicle when he was struck from behind by a suspected intoxicated driver. PO LaMantia was assisting other officers with a motor vehicle accident on Route 15 North in the area of Berkshire Valley Rd. when the incident occurred. David Prontnicki, 45 of Budd Lake NJ, was operating the vehicle that struck LaMantia’s patrol car. Prontnicki was arrested at the scene for suspicion of driving under the influence. PO LaMantia was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital for bodily injuries sustained during the crash. The Morris County Sheriff’s Dept., JTPD Detective Bureau, JTFD #2, and JTRS, responded to assist at the scene of the crash.
