On Tuesday, January 24, 2023, New Jersey State Police Superintendent Colonel Patrick Callahan and a contingent of New Jersey State Troopers, paid their respects to retired New Jersey State Police Lieutenant Gerald T. Barbato, #2939, at a Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Church in Red Bank, N.J. and then at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown N.J. Lt. Barbato died as a result of an illness contracted while responding to the World Trade Center terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. He passed away at his home on Monday, Jan. 16, 2023.
