Search Warrant Leads to Arrest, Recovery of a Handgun and Drugs
For Immediate Release: January 28, 2023
On January 26, 2023, detectives of the Atlantic City Police Department’s Special Investigations Section, along with members of the Atlantic City SWAT Team, executed a residential, court approved search warrant in the 2000 block of Columbia Avenue. Prior to the execution of the search warrant, detectives observed the target individual, Nahjajuan Ellis, exiting the residence and immediately detained him.
The subsequent search of Ellis’ residence led to the recovery of a stolen 9mm handgun along with over 2 ounces of heroin, approximately 7 grams of suspected crack cocaine, and 2 pints of Promethazine syrup. Detectives recovered numerous unused wax folds stamped “White House”. This particular stamp has been responsible for several overdoses in recent weeks. In addition, numerous items used for the packaging of illegal narcotics were found including scales, stamps, and cutting agents. Detectives also seized approximately $8,565 US currency believed to be proceeds of illegal narcotics sales. The recovered handgun had been reported stolen out of the state of Delaware.
The investigation was the culmination of a months-long investigation into the distribution of illegal narcotics and was led by Detective Eric Evans with assistance from the FBI Atlantic City Safe Streets Task Force.
ARRESTED: Nahjajuan Ellis, 21, of Atlantic City.
