LACEY: On Monday, January 30, 2023, at 05:59 p.m., officers from the Lacey Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on Route 9 just north of the Sunrise Boulevard intersection in Forked River.

Preliminary investigation at the scene revealed that the crash occurred when a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Anne Danza of Forked River, who was traveling south, made a left turn into the parking lot of Sunset Plaza, while a motorcyclist, 49-year-old Michael McCabe of Bayville was traveling north on Route 9.

Lacey Township EMS and RWJ Paramedics responded to the scene. As a result of the collision, Michael McCabe succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit responded to assist in the investigation.

Bayville EMS released the following statement. “It is with great sadness that the Bayville EMS announces the untimely passing of one our beloved Life Members, Michael McCabe. Mike was always known for his happy and cheerful personality that lit up a room when he walked in and regardless of any situation, he always kept a positive mindset that was influential on many. He loved helping his community and really valued what he was able to do for people in any way. Mike was a big advocate for our Squad and many other Emergency Service Organizations and he was able to do many great things to support us all through the Knights of the Inferno Motorcycle Club Mother Chapter which he was also a proud member of. Most of all, Mike was so proud of his kids and family which he always talked about the most. Mike, you will be missed by us all. Rest in Peace 13-159 🙏🏼❤️🚑
