NEWS RELEASE

On Monday, January 30, 2023, at 05:59 p.m., officers from the Lacey Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on Route 9 just north of the Sunrise Boulevard intersection in Forked River.

Preliminary investigation at the scene revealed that the crash occurred when a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Anne Danza of Forked River, who was traveling south, made a left turn into the parking lot of Sunset Plaza, while a motorcyclist, 49-year-old Michael McCabe of Bayville was traveling north on Route 9.

Lacey Township EMS and RWJ Paramedics responded to the scene. As a result of the collision, Michael McCabe succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit responded to assist in the investigation.
