Officials Release Statements On Shooting of Sayreville Councilwoman

The shooting of Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwumford last night is being investigated as a “targeted” shooting. Police say that the victim was shot several times outside of her apartment complex where she lived. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mayor Victoria Kilpatrick said, “The fact that she was taken from us by this despicable criminal act, makes this incident all the more horrifying. Beyond her dedication to the community I can share that she was a woman of deep faith and worked hard to integrate her strong Christian beliefs into her daily life as a person and a community leader.”

This incident is being investigated as a targeted shooting, although, officials have no motive at this time.

Middlesex County Prosecutors Office and Sayreville Police Department issued the following statements.
