Two Arrested after Holding Woman Against Her Will
For Immediate Release: February 3, 2023.
On January 30, 2023, a man and a woman were arrested and charged after allegedly holding a female acquaintance against her will after an argument.
At approximately 12:36 PM, patrol officers were dispatched to the first block of north Missouri Avenue after police communications received a 911 call from a female reporting that she was being chased by a male with a gun who was driving a silver Chevy Equinox. Officers arrived in the area but did not locate a victim. Moments later, police communications received a second 911 call from a concerned citizen who witnessed two females in a fight at the corner of Missouri and Atlantic Avenues. It was further reported that one of the females was forced into a silver Chevy Equinox by an unidentified male before the vehicle sped off. The concerned citizen took down the license plate information and forwarded it to police communications.
An investigation was immediately initiated and was conducted by Criminal Investigations detectives, members of the patrol division, and ACPD Surveillance Center personnel. Surveillance Center personnel was able to retrieve footage and tracked the alleged victim back to a gas station in the 2000 block of Atlantic Avenue. Additional surveillance footage from the gas station was recovered by Sergeant Daniel Arra and revealed that the female was seen inside a silver Chevy Equinox arguing with a male. The female eventually fled on foot and subsequently called 911.
The continuing investigation, conducted by Detective Thomas McCabe of the Criminal Investigations Section, revealed the registered owner of the Chevy Equinox lived in Mays Landing, NJ. Sergeants Garry Stowe and Daniel Arra and Officers Justin Peyton and Brandon Bower, responded to the registered owner’s address where Hamilton Township police officers met with them. The investigation led the officers to a residence in the immediate vicinity of the registered owner’s residence.
Officers subsequently came in contact with Sharrik Molley and Gina Hernandez, who were positively identified as the suspects involved in the earlier incident. Molley and Hernandez were taken into custody without incident. The investigation led to a search of the residence where officers located a loaded handgun. The victim was located safely by the officers inside the residence. It was also confirmed that the victim was an acquaintance of Molley and Hernandez.
