SOUTHARD Fire Department in Howell issued the following statement on last nights fire on Hulses Corner Road.
Last night stations 19-2 and 19-5 were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the area of Hulses Corner road (called in by a passing motorist). Upon arrival 19-5-67 declared a working fire and upgraded to a box alarm assignment. Shortly later he added station 19-3, and stations 54/55 from Jackson Township. 19-5-66 arrived and assumed command, and Engine 19-3-77 arrived and stretched two 1 3/4in lines. Tanker 19-3-78 supplied water while crews from 19-2, 19-5, and Jackson assisted with ventilation and opening up the structure. Crews cleared just before midnight and turned the scene over to Howell Fire Bureau for investigation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Thankfully nobody was home at the time of the fire but crews did rescue multiple animals from the inside of the structure. Well done by all companies on scene, and thank you to the cover assignments who watched the town during this time.
