Yesterday, Russell Heller, 51, from Milford was shot and killed in a parking lot on Weston Canal Road in Hillsborough.   Russell was a current employee of PSE&G as well as a councilman in Milford. Police do not feel the shooting was politically motivated.

The suspected shooter, Gary T. Curtis, 58, a former employee of PSE&G was found several hours later in a parking lot in Bridgewater with a weapon and self inflicted gun shot wound.  Police believe this was an isolated incident and Heller was the intended target.

This is the second shooting in just over a week where a council person has been shot and killed.  Last week Sayreville Councilwoman, Eunice Dwumfour, 30, was fatally shot in her car near her home.  The suspect in that shooting remains at large.
