THEFT BY DECEPTION ARREST IN GREEN BROOK TOWNSHIP
GREEN BROOK TWP., N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and Greenbrook Township Chief of Police William Coward announced the arrest of John M. Brault, age 42, of Heritage Drive, Green Brook, New Jersey in relation to acts of theft by deception of Green Brook Baseball Club funds occurring from July of 2018 to May of 2022 in Greenbrook Township, New Jersey.
Prosecutor McDonald stated that in May of 2022, the Special Investigations Unit of the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office was notified of a report of suspected theft by deception on the part of the treasurer of the Green Brook Baseball Club organization in the Township of Green Brook. An investigation was conducted by detectives from the Special Investigation Unit and the Green Brook Police Department. As a result of this investigation, it was determined that for nearly a four-year period, and while acting as treasurer, John Brault had been misusing approximately $29,000.00 in funds belonging to the Green Brook Baseball Club funds for his personal use.
On Thursday, February 2, 2023, John Brault was arrested by the Green Brook Township Police Department without incident and charged with 3rd degree, Theft by Deception. Defendant Brault was processed at the Green Brook Police Department and released pending his court date in this matter.
