BARNEGAT: The Barnegat Police Department issued the following statement regarding a burglary.

On February 21, 2023, Detective Robert Armstrong arrested Aaron Douglas, 21, of Lexington Blvd. in Barnegat and charged him with attempted burglary and criminal trespass in connection with two earlier incidents.

On Friday February 17, 2023 Barnegat officers responded to a Schooner Avenue address for a report of a subject attempting to gain access to vehicles which were parked in the driveway of the residence. Because the homeowner had locked the vehicles, the subject was unable to gain access.

Later that evening, officers responded to a Spruce Circle South address for a report of a subject looking in the windows of a residence. The description of the subject provided by the homeowner matched the description of the subject from the earlier call on Schooner Avenue.

Detective Armstrong’s investigation, including both video surveillance footage and information provided by concerned citizens, resulted in Douglas being identified and charged.

Douglas was processed and released.
