Four Males Arrested After Robbery Spree
For Immediate Release: March 23, 2023

ATLANTIC CITY: The Atlantic City Police Department announces the arrests of four males after committing four armed robberies over the course of 70 minutes while occupying a carjacked vehicle from Maryland.

On March 23, 2023, patrol officers responded to four separate armed robberies. The first was reported at 6:27 AM following the robbery of an 89-year old male in the area of the 200 block of North New York Avenue. The suspects struck the victim in the chest after threatening him with guns and stole the victim’s jacket, cash, and cell phone.

The second robbery was reported at 6:36 AM in the 1200 block of Baltic Avenue. The suspects pointed guns at the victim, 45, before stealing a cell phone, Kindle and lunch bag. The third report of a robbery came four minutes later in the 300 block of Indiana Avenue. The victim, 84, surrendered keys to his vehicle after being threatened.

The final robbery occurred at 7:38 AM at California and Pacific Avenues. The suspects approached the victim, 21, who was in a car and ordered her out of the vehicle at gunpoint. The suspects attempted to steal the vehicle but were unsuccessful. One of the suspects struck the victim in the head with a gun. The suspect fled after the victim began to yell for help.

The suspects ran onto the Boardwalk where Surveillance Center personnel were able to track them to when they exited the Boardwalk near Indiana Avenue. Once leaving the Boardwalk, Bally’s Atlantic City Hotel & Casino security personnel were able to assist in providing a direction of flight.

Officer Martina Martin ultimately located the four suspects in the 200 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard. All four suspects fled when responding officers converged. All four were apprehended after brief foot pursuits and taken into custody without further incident. Officers located three guns that were discarded by the suspects as they ran. After examination, the two handguns and one rifle were determined to be Airsoft guns.

After a search, the vehicle used in the first three robberies was located on Pennsylvania Avenue. The vehicle had been reported stolen during a carjacking on March 20 from Prince George’s County, Maryland. One of the arrested suspects was in possession of the keys to the vehicle. Detectives later recovered stolen items inside.

Law enforcement in Prince George’s County have been notified regarding possible charges in their jurisdiction.

“I am extremely proud of the fine work of the officers and surveillance center personnel who quickly apprehended four brazen and violent perpetrators.” said Chief James Sarkos.
