Naval Station Lakehurst Restores Navy Fighter Jet

JOINT BASE MDL: The Grumman F-14 Tomcat – a legend, an American icon, the fighter jet known for air superiority and “Top Gun” fame!

Yesterday, NSA Lakehurst unveiled the static display of the F-14. The restoration of the aircraft was made possible by the Navy Lakehurst Historical Society, whose dedication to preserving Naval history and heritage breathed new life into the aircraft.

The fighter jet, introduced in the 1970s, was the primary fighter jet used by the US Navy during the 80s and 90s. It was retired from active service in 2006. The static display is available for viewing at the NSA Lakehurst airpark.
