HOLMDEL: Today at 12:40PM Holmdel PD received calls reporting a structure fire at a residence on Holmdel Rd. Arriving officers found a significant fire outside the attached garage. The fire was fueled by a large amount of firewood and other items that were being stored next to the home. Officers utilized fire extinguishers and a garden hose in an attempt to keep it from spreading to the house. The Holmdel Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire. They were assisted by Fire Departments from Keyport, Hazlet and Union Beach. Holmdel Road was closed to traffic from Line Rd to Van Brackle Rd but has since been reopened. The incident is being investigated by the Holmdel Township Fire Marshall’s Office.
