EDISON: Mayor Sam Joshi provides the following updates on this devistating fire.
4/4/23- 5PM update: My administration has reached out to every unit that was affected by yesterday fire. A representative from my office is working them individually to provide them with support. Each scenario of support varies. We will continue to address their needs as best as we can.
4/3/23- 10pm update: Over 80 residents have been displaced from their home at Waterford complex. I’ve authorized for families in need to be relocated to a nearby hotel and am thankful for the Red Cross and BAPS Charities for stepping in immediately to help with disaster assistance and warm food for the families. Thank you to all our first responders today. While today was devastating for so many families, we are thankful no one was injured and everyone evacuated immediately. We will continue to provide all those impacted by the fire with guidance and support to help them recover.
This fire is deemed not suspicious.
345pm: Structure fire at Waterford Drive Edison Fire Dept on scene- building has been evacuated. County teams are also on scene. Red cross has been called in for those displaced. At this time there are no known injuries
