ADDITIONAL ARREST IN FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP BANK ROBBERY

FRANKLIN TWP., N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor, and Franklin Township Public Safety Director Quovella M. Maeweather announced the arrest of Ryan Gaboff, age 37 of Ely Harmony Road, Millstone, New Jersey in connection with a bank robbery that occurred in the area of Route 27 in Franklin Township on the afternoon of Monday, August 22, 2022.

Prosecutor McDonald stated that on August 22, 2022, at approximately 2:08 p.m., Franklin Township Police Department received a call that a robbery had occurred at a bank located in the area of Route 27 in the Township of Franklin. It was reported that a male entered the bank demanding money from multiple bank tellers. The bank tellers ultimately turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the male based on his demands and he subsequently fled the store on a motorcycle. The male suspect was described as wearing black shoes, black pants, black shirt, black mask and a black motorcycle helmet and goggles.

Franklin Township Police Department officers responded to the scene and canvassed the area in search of the suspect. Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit along with detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. Agents from the FBI Newark – Franklin Township Resident Agency Office assisted with the investigation.

The investigation revealed evidence which indicated that Ryan Gaboff was a co-conspirator with his brother, Michael Gaboff in the robbery of the bank on August 22, 2022, on Route 27 in Franklin Township.

Prosecutor McDonald stated that on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, Ryan Gaboff voluntarily surrendered at the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office. Upon his arrival, Ryan Gaboff was arrested and charged with 2nd degree Robbery, and 2nd degree Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. Defendant Ryan Gaboff was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a court hearing.

Prosecutor McDonald previously stated that on December 2, 2022, as result of this investigation, Michael Gaboff was arrested in Ocean, New Jersey and charged with 2nd degree Robbery, and 2nd degree Conspiracy to Commit Robbery; Sharon Gaboff, age 60, of Ely Harmony Road, Millstone, New Jersey was arrested and charged with 3rd degree Hindering; Alan Gaboff, age 66, of Ely Harmony Road, Millstone, New Jersey was arrested and charged with 3rd degree Hindering; and Jesse Gaboff, age 23, of Ely Harmony Road, Millstone, New Jersey was arrested and charged with 3rd degree Hindering.
