SOUTH RIVER: The South River Fire Department released the following information on the overnight fire.
The South River Fire Department was dispatched at 2:17 AM to 17 Thomas St. for reported structure fire. Prior to fire department arriving South River Police Department confirmed with Responding chiefs a working structure fire at the above address at that time the Chiefs requested a retone for the confirmed working fire, and also requested East Brunswick Fire Dist 1 as a RIC team to the scene. Upon the arrive of chief 1 a full 2nd alarm was requested. All occupants had safely exited the structure and were taken care of by South River OEM and the Red Cross of NJ. The fire was placed under control at 4:11 am Fire department units remained on scene till 552 am to perform Overhaul and ensure there was no rekindle. The scene is currently under investigation by the Middlesex County Fire Marshals Office.
