Male Wounded in Shooting, Two Arrested, Handgun Recovered
For Immediate Release: April 10, 2023

ATLANTIC CITY: The Atlantic City Police Department announces the arrest two individuals and is seeking the suspect involved in a shooting.

On April 8, 2023 at 8:42 PM, patrol officers responded to the 800 block of Indiana Avenue in reference to a ShotSpotter alert. As officers were responding, an SUV was observed fleeing the area at a high rate of speed. Officers Anthony Nastasi and Tyman Gordy stopped the vehicle at Ohio and Atlantic Avenues. They determined the driver, 32, of Galloway, NJ, had sustained a gunshot wound and the vehicle showed evidence of gunfire. The officers carried the victim into AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, to receive treatment for a non-life-threatening injury.

Officers located a loaded handgun inside the vehicle. A passenger, Alicia Gillard, was taken into custody. Detectives later arrested a 17-year old male as part of the investigation into the weapon.

This remains an active investigation being conducted by the Violent Crimes Unit.

ARRESTED: Alicia Gilliard, a 36-year old female of Atlantic City.

CHARGES: Unlawful possession of a weapon and obstruction of justice.

Gilliard was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

ARRESTED: A 17-year old male of Mays Landing, NJ.

CHARGES: Unlawful possession of a weapon and obstruction of justice.

The male was remanded to Harborfields Detention Facility.

The public is reminded that charges are mere allegations, and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
