Update on 200+ Acre Forest Fire in Egg Harbor

WILDFIRE UPDATE: Log Swamp Wildfire – Little Egg Harbor Twp.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service is on the scene of a wildfire in Little Egg Harbor Twp., Ocean County, that is burning in Bass River State Forest, the Stafford Forge Wildlife Management Area and at the Warren Grove Bombing Range.

A Forest Fire Service observer detected the fire at 10:17 a.m. today from the Cedar Bridge Fire Tower when arriving to work for the day. The fire is currently 200 acres in size and 0% contained.

ROAD CLOSURE
⚠️Route 539 is closed from the town of Warren Grove to Forge Road.

No residential structures are threatened and there are no evacuations.

Barnegat Police released the following statement on the forest fire.

We have been advised that the brush fire located in Little Egg Harbor’s jurisdiction(west of Rt. 539) has been contained. NJ State Forest Fire Service has advised that there is no threat of fire or evacuation to our area. Although there is no threat of fire to Barnegat Township, there may be heavy smoke in our area for the remainder of the evening.
