Beloved Seal Passes Away at Jenkinsons Aquarium

POINT PLEASANT BEACH: Jenkinsons Aquarium announced the passing of their beloved harbor seal today.

“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our adored harbor seal, Luseal.

Lucy was a local at heart, stranding in the in Point Pleasant/Bay Head Canal. After being deemed nonreleasable, she became part of the Jenkinson’s Aquarium family in July 1991. Passing at the age of 34, Lucy surpassed the average life expectancy of her wild cousins by over a decade. During this time, she captured the hearts of all.

We are devastated. We ask for your support and kindness as our team processes our grief.

She will be dearly missed.”

    My sympathies to all the staff. I was fortunate enough to meet Lucy when we took our granddaughter to the aquarium. That was her favorite of all. Lucy was absolutely entertaining and quite adorable. She stole our hearts! This is so very sad. But I so happy for the years of love and care she received from everyone who took care of her.
