There’s a lot of speculation on what took place on Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst. A Facebook post of an active shooter on Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst sent people into a frenzy after they reported an active shooter.

It turns out that Building 5231 the Army Reserve Building was placing a BOLO (be on the lookout) alert for Robert Card. Robert is the murderer that took the lives of 18 people, and injured numerous others in a Maine bowling alley.

Somehow, this message got misconstrued and sent military police, civilian police, and others into an active shooter situation on base. After an investigation it turns out there was no active shooter. The base was closed to everyone during the investigation.

I want to point out that this incident shows how many perssonel were ready to give their lives for strangers today. Officers in our area responded to an active shooter not knowing what they were responding to. They were ready to eliminate the threat, with the possibility of not coming home to their families.

The base has since reopened and is back to normal operation.
