CAPE MAY: Last weeks nor’easter caused lots of erosion on beaches across the Jersey Shore. Higbee Beach, which runs along the stretch of Sunset Beach is no stranger to erosion. This beach is home of the sunken ship wreck S.S. Atlantus , and a World War II bunker

The beach is also home to century old railroad tracks known as the “Ghost tracks.” The tracks are burried underneath the sand, and rarely get exposed. The old tracks were used for a railroad in the early 1900’s. The railway was used throughout WWI for mining facilities and ammunitions.

The railway was discontinued in the mid 1900s and covered with sand to be forgotten about. However, after last weeks storm they are back. They are only able to be seen during low tide.
