BRIELLE: A horrible situation unfolded Thursday night in Brielle. A 13 year old boy reportedly shot himself in the head. We are told that the boy is in 7th grade at Brielle Elementary School.

As of Saturday morning we are being told that the young boy passed away.

It’s unsure how the boy got the firearm. But, please lock up your firearms, and teach your children firearm safety from a young age. Responsible gun ownership starts with the gun owner. Having a gun is huge responsibility. Firearm safety for everyone in the house is a must.

I attended that school from 6th to 8th grade in the 90s. I was teased relentlessly as were my 2 other friends. Until I stood up to one of the many bullies there after she spoke of my dead mother. My father wasn’t upset with my 3 day suspension and 0 happening to the bully other than the headache I gave her. Nothing else was ever done. I had terrible conditioning from that ABUSE That I had to heal from. It saddens me that even to this day nothing was done to help him. It saddens me to know nothing has changed since i attended this school, but has just gotten worse.

My heart breaks for this boy’s family. Sending so much love & strength to his parents 💔

  8. This breaks my heart! We removed our child from this school for the same reasons and the school did NOTHING to help or stop it, instead they blamed our son. The school buried it’s head in the sand to protect its “reputation “ and now this family is left to pick up the pieces…sending our thoughts and prayers.
    Such a unnecessary tragedy…

  9. Brielle School District does not take bullying seriously. Personal experience. We had the means to remove my child from the situation. But damage was done. Parents of bully’s are definitely part of the problem. This breaks my heart.

  10. This article is one of the “rumors” circulating. You have one of the main issues WRONG. If you are writing this to “save lives” then don’t report a main fact incorrectly!!!

  11. This article is so focused on gun safety, which is important, but what about bullying! Cut the head off snake not the tail.

  12. My daughter attended Brielle school.
Teachers can be included along with the students. Teachers showed absolute favoritism which is another form of bullying.

  13. I am heartbroken for this family. No one should have to endure the loss of a child of something so preventable. Each life is precious and it is the moral and ethical responsibility of the administration to protect our children from acts of bullying. My child is being bullied in the brick school district as a kindergartener. I never even knew this existed at such a young age until this experience. The failure to act aggressively on behalf of administration and the protection of those inflicting insult is truly unbelievable. My prayers are with this family.

My son also attends brick schools. You have to contact the anti bullying coordinator asap. Call meetings , threaten lawyers. Then they hear you. My son had some issues with a group of students in vets middle and they did handle it immediately. Why because I am my child’s only advocate! As is yourself. Fight momma just fight. Good luck

Praying for the family. Bullies in schools turn bullies in the workplace. Wake up school districts.
